The program consists of three classes:
EFP 610 Survey of Forensic Psychology Practice and Principles
This class is an overview of the field and its history and impact in our world today. Topics include the relationship between law and psychology, the mental health system, mental illness and criminal conduct. The course also offers a general overview of the preparation of reports for court and other forensic settings.
EFP 613 Psychopathology
Students will study the major types of mental disorders and their manifestations, symptoms and patterns, as well as how to address mental illness in a variety of forensic settings.
EFP 617 Basic Interviewing Skills
This class covers interview techniques, including listening skills, feedback strategies, and building a relationship with a client. Students will also consider how cultural differences can affect the interview process.
