With that in mind, The Chicago School’s Certificate in Applied Forensic Psychology program was created as an alternative to our M.A. in Applied Forensic Psychology program. The Certificate in Applied Forensic Psychology program’s curriculum closely mirrors that of our master’s degree program, but does so in an accelerated program consisting of eight-week online learning sessions taken over the course of five months. In just months, you can receive not only a Certificate in Applied Forensic Psychology, but also the many benefits that accompany it, such as improved job performance, increased professional fulfillment, and even enhanced career advancement opportunities. The program consists of three classes:
EFP 610 Survey of Forensic Psychology Practice and Principles
This class is an overview of the field and its history and impact in our world today. Topics include the relationship between law and psychology, the mental health system, mental illness and criminal conduct. The course also offers a general overview of the preparation of reports for court and other forensic settings.
EFP 613 Psychopathology
Students will study the major types of mental disorders and their manifestations, symptoms and patterns, as well as how to address mental illness in a variety of forensic settings.
EFP 617 Basic Interviewing Skills
This class covers interview techniques, including listening skills, feedback strategies, and building a relationship with a client. Students will also consider how cultural differences can affect the interview process.
Designed to help you succeed, The Chicago School’s Certificate in Applied Forensic Psychology will give you an opportunity to enhance your existing expertise with an overview of the field:
• How to provide trial consultation within the court system
• How to work in law enforcement, probation, or parole
• How to evaluate and develop programs for at-risk populations
